MINOR GUARDIANSHIP

Obtaining guardianship of a minor provides a non-biological parent with legal rights to care for the minor, without terminating the biological parent’s rights. This is most common when a biological parent is unable to care for their child or a biological parent has passed away. Guardians can be related or unrelated to the minor child. Although a guardianship can end, the court must be part of that process.
